[Opinions] Rosemary or Margaret? (m)
My grandmothers' names - neither of them had a middle name.

My aunt Mary named her daughter Margaret Rose (like the princess; don't think that was in her mind though). So both are somewhat family names, if you merge the Rose and the Mary.
I like both Margaret and Rosemary. My cousin never had a nn, which is good but rare. I think I prefer Maryrose to Rosemary, for the ship and also the rhythm.

Rosemary, definitely
It's warmer and zestier than Margaret.

Definitely Rosemary, never liked Margaret.
Rosemary
Rosemary for sure
I've long loved that name! Margaret does nothing for me.

Both are lovely but I prefer Rosemary.

Rosemary, I think it’s so much prettier. Never been a fan of Margaret, though I love Meg, Maggie, Maisie / Maisy, Margo and other variants.
Ooh! That's a difficult one. I love them both.
My name is Mary, so personally I'd go with Margaret, but if my name were something else I think I'd go with Rosemary. I'm no help at all.

Margaret
Margaret.
Rosemary is not my style.

Rosemary. It would also make a lovely middle name.
Rosemary. It’s a very warm name if you know what I mean. I have nothing against Margaret, but I’d opt for Margo instead.
Margaret, so I could be Maggie.
Rosemary
Margaret is very official - I can't see it on a child (despite Sense & Sensibility). I'd only use it with a nickname: Meg, Maggie, Gretchen
I love Rosemary. I hope to use the name Rosemary or Rosemarie for my daughter one day. Rose makes it's feminine and sweet, Mary/Marie makes it strong. A perfect combination.

Rosemary as this was also the name of DH grandmother. Granny was lovely and always welcomed me with open arms.
I’m ambivalent to Margaret. My father’s cousin is called Margaret and she ignored my mother and me for years due to her father’s opinion of my mother. Now I’m in my 30s she has started speaking to me and my mother but I still have a chip as the reason for the dislike was petty.

Your aunt Margaret sounds like an Edith I know.. I think I would otherwise really like the name Edith.
Rosemary. But are fine as mn.
