Help[Opinions] Tiberius…
…surprisingly has just a tad under 4 stars on my PNL, out of 7 votes, which I know isn’t a ton. Still, I am surprised by how well-received it’s been.
WDYT of Tiberius? Can you imagine it in real life usage? Pretentious? Dog name?
I think I like Tiberius Oliver and Tiberius Hector the most at the moment.
Please rate my lists. All of them are ratable except for the Main list and the Surname list. :)

I like the name, although I'm not sure I'd ever use it for a person. For me, it will always have the association with the second captain of the USS Enterprise, James Tiberius Kirk.
It would make a great name for a cat or dog, though.

Honestly I'm pretty enamored with it, although I see it solidly in the middle name position.
It's so adventurous and reminiscent of a snowy mountain.

It does come off as the sort of name you'd see on a dotty old British professor. I see it more as eccentric than pretentious.
I have met one Tiberius (some folks called him Ty) and he was actually an old midwestern farmer with almost no teeth and the most sun-weathered and wrinkled skin you've ever seen lol Cracking a joke a minute. He used to hang out at the Knights where my dad drinks with his buds but I haven't seen him in years. I doubt he's keeled over though, he seemed like one of those people who can smoke, drink, and eat fried food all day long but be fine somehow.
Anyway, he funnily enough was absolutely nothing how I imagine a Tiberius.
I like it the name myself.

As Fiammetta pointed out, the historical Tiberius wasn't an admirable namesake. I'd imagine a Tiberius to be sharp, cunning, intelligent, and aggressive. Maybe a sports coach? It's funny to imagine a Tiberius in an Adidas tracksuit. It'd work well on a pitbull too.

I don’t mind a bit of pretentiousness and I love Star Trek (apart from the most recent stuff) but it’s a bit much even for me. It reminds me of the word “imperious”, so I think of it as being kind of pompous.

I like it but I just can’t imagine it on a person today. I did once use it in a story I wrote spelled Tyberius but everyone called him Ty.

I really like it, and it does not have any bad connotations to it in Denmark, other than if you're a historian with an interest in ancient Italian history. Or just interested in that kind of history with horrible people in the past, etc.
It does remind me of James Tiberius Kirk of Star Trek fame, which is far from bad in my opinion, so that would not be a terrible thing.
