I like it, but mostly for the nicknames Hattie and Hallie. So cute. Harriet itself is ok. I’d be happy to meet a little one. I don’t see it going mainstream in the US but Evelyn did so I guess anything can happen

I knew a very sweet and kind Harriet when I was little and I think of her when I hear that name. I know my sister likes it and it was a name that came up when she was expecting my niece but they could only agree on one name and it wasn't Harriet, haha. I'm not opposed to use it myself but there are other names I prefer. I like that it's a no nonsense name. It has a presence. It's still sweet but not in a frilly way.

All I hear is Harry-it. Ugly and kind of a gross feeling in my mouth when I say it.
Harriet Tubman was pretty amazing, but her name is still awful.

It's all right. It has its charm, but I prefer Henrietta.

Frumpy. Matronly. Ugly.Harriet, Mable and Martha are all favorites that used to be / are favorites or names of interest on this board that I have never been able to get behind or understand the appeal of.Henrietta too!Harriet & Henrietta make me think of chickens.

I like it a lot, I always have, and I have a dear friend with the name. I think it’s elegant and sweet.

I really like Harriet. It's pert and stalwart. I prefer Henrietta, though.

I know someone who used is. Harriet Euphonia Anne, all honoring names. They settled on it when she was born and came out hairy. No joke. They call her Harry. Brother is Murphy.M's music teacher used Colleen Harriet, also honoring.I like Harriet. Harriet Vane and Harriet the Spy.

Wow that is a great combo! Harriet Euphonia Anne, very fun. The "being born hairy" connection is so unexpected and made me burst out laughing. Oh dear. I hope little Harriet is not the sort of kid I was - having that kind of story behind my name would have destroyed me, absolutely.

Their family is similar to ours - goofy and fun. I think Harry will be just fine. And I was surprised to hear such a name nerd name in the wild.

I was a bit of a hairy baby and I’m always mortified when my mom brings it up. Can’t imagine having a namesake based on that.

I know. :-D But it is a lovely name and it honors her grandfather.

I've never liked the sound of it. I don't think I like any name that starts with har-.
