[Opinions] Family BA!! (I'm officially an aunt of 5! :D)
I'm pleased to announce that my sister and her boyfriend recently welcomed their second child into the world. A beautiful and healthy baby girl named, Skylar Polly. (Middle name is in honor of our late mother)
She joins big brother, Anthony James (9) (Also my only nephew, but hopefully that'll someday change. I can only wish. LOL).I don't really care for Skylar, or the name in general. I've always found it a bit flimsy and week. A modern fad name as well, which doesn't fit in at all with her brother's, in my opinion. Although I am disappointed in the name choice and definitely wished they could have gone with something else, I don't believe Skylar is among the absolute worst. I feel that there are far worse to choose from. I mean I don't mind the available nickname of Sky/Skye, which I'm sure she'll end up going by (: So at least there's that. Anyways, love to hear your thoughts. (:*~Rate my PNLs!~* NEW NAMES RECENTLY ADDED!

There’s no cohesion and that’s my only problem with it. Skylar is… eh, fine. Polly is nice and I like the honouring aspect.

Skylar is vaguely annoying but harmless imo. I came across the very similar Skyla a while back and found I actually kind of like it once you eliminate the R. I'm not a fan of the -er ending names in general but most are just "fine". Congrats on becoming an aunt again.

Congrats, Auntie! I like Anthony James, though I'd have left out the -h- to clarify the pronunciation. Skylar doesn't happen where I live, and I can't say I regret its absence. I love Polly, though, and I'd have been excited if they'd gone for Polly Skylar instead.

No, because the 'h' is pronounced. Also, thank you. (:

I thought the same thing. I don't know if it's the 'L's that maybe clash together, or the fact that they're both two syllables but it's one of the reasons why I wished they would have gone with something else. /:

Skylar is an okay name. I don’t have a problem with it. I actually just met a Skylar around a month ago. She’s a cool person. Ironically enough, my Mother claims it was her AOL name back in the 90s or something. According to her she completely made up the name in her head. So she was surprised to see the name become common.Polly is also okay I guess. Never really had any strong feelings on it. If it’s an honoring name she has more than enough reason to use.All in all, Skylar Polly looks good, and sounds fairly good as well. I like her brothers name though.

I love Anthony James and Skylar seems so different, Dont really like Skylar/Skye. Polly is a lovely tribute

I second all this.

I kind of like Skylar, though I’d prefer Sky/Skye. I’m not fond of Polly but understand it’s in honor of someone. I do not like Anthony at all but a big part of that is that I grew up with so many.

Congrats!I like Anthony James, but not that much. I don't like James as a middle name, though I adore Anthony in general.Skylar Polly is beautiful! However, I'd replace Skylar with another modern name, like Arianna, Autumn or Hayley.

As much as I like my nephew's name, (admittedly more than my niece's) I can see your point with James. It's definitely overused as a middle, even though it's an honoring name as well, after an uncle of ours that my sister had a close connection with. She had always planned on using it for a boy. (:
