I like Marlene pronounced the German way, Marlena feels a bit overwrought.

I prefer the German pronunciation, which sounds like marLAYna and looks like Marlene. Mar-leen is awful!

Marlena is okay, but Marlene is just feels more simply classy compared to it. Kind of like Mila and Milena. Both are beautiful, but the the more simple one sound better; The more complex one looks prettier.

I like Marlene. It's simple and vintage feeling. Marlena feels like a little too much for me, like a couple different names squashed together. Marina, Marley, Lena...
