Help[Opinions] Irrational Reasons for Disliking Names?
I've just realised why I'm not so keen on the nickname Reggie - it is because the golem / titan trio of legendary Pokemon in the third generation were underwhelming to me as a kid (they still are). They followed the Legendary Birds and the Legendary Beasts, but instead of any of these cool looking creatures;
We got these ugly things;
REGIce, REGIrock and REGIsteel
Another name I have always disliked irrationally is Bella because of a strange leap of logic as a kid. In primary school, I was bullied by a girl named Jessica... but I already had a close friend with that name and knew of other kids with this or similar names. However, the character Bella from The Tweenies always reminded me of Bully-Jessica and because I knew nobody else with the name Bella, I've always associated it with her
Anybody else have irrational dislikes like these?

I don't like Isabella because it's sounds like a pushy girl.
I don't like Candace because it's reminds me of Phineas and Ferb.
I don't like names like Bertha, Gladys, Glenna, Glenda, Gloria or Gemma because they seem like the names of fat housekeepers. I do not understand why.
I also don't like the name Bobby at all because it reminds me of the word "bobo", which is silly in Spanish.
And I don't like the way Josie sounds either, it sounds stupid.

Marissa - Almost every mean girl I've ever met had this name. I haven't met any nice Marissas.
Quinn - I think the name's boring.
Vera - A former friend who stopped being friends with me just because I chose to stay neutral in her and her boyfriend's breakup. They were both my friends (I was friends with Vera's ex before they started dating), and I listened to them vent about each other separately, without weighing in myself. I honestly didn't want to take sides, because I felt that would've been a betrayal.
Byron - My dad's former friend who was a complete jerk to my sister and me.
Helga - The first syllable always puts me off. Why would I want to give my daughter a name that starts with "Hell"?
Fawn - An annoying mean girl I knew in middle school. I haven't met any other Fawns.
Sloane - It sounds whiny to me for some reason.
Brooke - Another annoying mean girl I knew in middle school. Haven't met any other Brookes.
Kurt - Something about this name makes me cringe. All I think about is that one cantankerous neighbor who yells at everyone to get off his lawn, or turn the music down when it's not even nighttime. In a screenplay my sister and I are writing, the Big Bad in the story is named Kurt, because he's a bully.

I have a lot of problems with guys named James and Brett. Ugh! they are all so unpleasant. I never liked Brett to begin with.
I have a bad memory with Joseph's too. One was actually my fault though. I got in trouble with a teacher with Joseph as his first name in high school. I don't wanna go into full detail, but I avoid that name like the plague.

I hate, hate, HATE the nickname Nikki (I do like Nicole, though)! She was one of the resident cyberbullies on a fan forum I used to go on, and if her gang was a cheer squad, she'd most definitely have been the head cheerleader. She was a... female dog, and that's putting it nicely. And to add insult to injury, when we nice people made a new forum after the old one got shut down, SHE FREAKING MANAGED TO FIND IT! Ughhhhhhhh... but then THAT forum got shut down due to inactivity, so I haven't "seen" her since like 2010.

Nicole - I was picked on by a Nicole when I was a kid, and I haven't gotten close with any others that counter act the image.
Russell - I met a sleazy Russell, and now I associate it with vain narcissistic people.
Travis - I have actually met a nice enough Travis, but instead I associate it with graffiti.

Cosima- Out loud reminds me of the word for cousin (f) in German (cousine).
Endymion and Endellion- As much as I want to like them (they're very much my style), I just cannot imagine them on a person. They sound like perfect ship/boat or place names (some of which I do like), but not for an actual person.
Cora and Vera- Characters I hate. I even have other associations with them now, but I can't bring myself to like them.
Jude- I'm actually fine with it now and kinda like it, but it's somewhat related. When I first got into names and started frequenting name forums, I was adament that Jude sounded like a girls name and did not work at all on a boy, and stated so on a thread. Obviously most disagreed, and pointed out Jude Law (who'd I'd forgotten about) and "Hey Jude". Long story short, I didn't like being in the minority and proved wrong, so I threw an internal huff, and it soured Jude for ages.
Sloane- Sounds slimy and slug-like.
Penelope- My least favourite name, but not for a particularly tangible reason. It just feels sickly sweet, fake, and lacking in substance. I'm not a big fan of the sound, but I like Calliope, so it isn't so much that.

Tatum reminds me of “tantrum”… I know they are not *that* similar, but still.

I hate the name Amy because of a girl I knew a while back who basically ended up cyberstalking me until I had to quit social media for a year. Her name wasn't Amy, but it was the name of the character she used in her truly disturbing Harry Potter fanfic roleplays that she was always trying to make me a part of. So now the name Amy fills me with an irrational rage.

A few years ago (a decade or more) my email address was used as a mass-marketing RP... thing? I don't know how to describe it. Basically I think one person who had got my email address from somewhere had put it in a list of Literally Hundreds of other people's emails advertising for RP partners for [insert a bunch of popular ships here]. I've never been into roleplay and I don't care if they enjoy it, but for years I had been stuck with these emails because the list of hundreds and hundreds of people - some decided to "reply all" and complain as they were in the same position as me, but some got the list and put it into another list and wash rinse repeat.
It was infuriating.
Hundreds of emails, blocking ineffective.
I eventually tracked down the facebook profile of the person who started it and gave them a gobfull. I think they were a bit spooked that I found their real identity.
Don't suppose they'll do that again? One would hope

I irrationally dislike Lucy. Because of childhood stuff. Lucy from Peanuts, who was really not nice at all, she was pretty malevolent. And I think of I Love Lucy, which as a child I never actually watched, but disliked the idea of - it was still hyped nostalgically in the 70s kinda like Friends is today. To me as a child, it was just an image of 50s fake-ass domesticity and fake-ass "showbiz", and the cliche image of L. Ball with her plastic hair, lipstick, and New York accent... I mean I'm sure it was a funny show and all, but to me as a kid it was just stupid stuff that only middle-aged people would like. And I never met any real-life Lucys who countered these images.

Those are funny stories. It reminds me of why I've always disliked maroon, especially in the interior of cars. Maroon always makes me feel like I'm going to have a headache. Finally I remembered that my parents had a car with a fuzzy maroon interior, that was hot and uncomfortable and always gave me headaches.
That's actually related to the topic because I tend to feel a bit overwhelmed by names I feel are maroon, like Morgan or Malachi. Aaaah
