I don't enjoy the -er- sound - Bertha, Mervyn etc - and though ferns are among my favourite plants, I don't usually like botanical names. Two strikes, and Fern is out.Flora is much better. I would rather use Florence, both because it is a family name and because I prefer Laura to Flora, and to most other names.

Hi !!!I choose Flora.
It is more intuitive for me being an Italian name. I personally like Fern as well. It is nature-themed, short and I really like ferns... but in my case it would be pretentious. I personally don't know any person named Fern here (and I think that in Italy they are just a couple). Flora instead is not only Italian (with Ancient Latin origin) but also an international name that crosses the borders. It is floral, mythological and fairy-like... What else? Simply perfect.

I would pick Fern. I like the nature association, and since my name is Laura, naming my daughter Flora would be a bit too much imo.

I couldn't pick Fern in Germany because it means "far away".So Flora in Germany, but I dislike it.In English speaking countries I pick Fern. It is magical and fairy-like.I just hate the sound of Flora, Florence etc.

I like both, but I think I'd go with Flora. It seems more universal/international, which is always a plus for me.

Awww, both are just lovely, but I would go with Fern, plus I think the nn Ferny is super cute.

I like them at about the same level, but would ultimately choose Flora because though rarely used anymore Fern is sometimes used as an old, crud slang term to mean "down there hair" and I personally would never want that association.

FloraIt's beautiful, and not as popular as Florence.
