Madison is always a name that I loved for some reason. I get that it’s trendy and the meaning isn’t too great, but I still can’t help but to love it. I hate the nickname Maddy, just for the record. I would probably just use it for a pet.

It seems to be an "on trend" name that will likely date the person with this name to a certain generation. I also don't like that it is essentially "son of..." and generally given to a girl. That's just me. However, the general sound of the name is nice and if someone names their child Madison I don't secretly judge them.

In my honest option it’s really not that bad. Horribly overused, obviously, But at least it’s not the name of a disease. It’s an average name, nothing interesting, cute, or even special about it,
The “son of...” meaning bothers me enough, but even then for some reason whenever I SAY Madison, it sounds masculine.
I like Maddie, I don’t like Maddy. All in all I much prefer Madeline, and Maddelena. (Don’t care for Maddalena)

I remember when I was like 5-7 years old I wanted the middle name Madison-Rose. I think I even wanted my name to actually BE Madison. Now? No thank you.

I don’t like Madison too much but it’s not terrible. There are far worse popular names out there. I really like Madeleine but since there’s no getting around Maddy or Maddy I don’t think I’d use it as a first name.

Madison is not a name I would have picked myself but it is my stepdaughter’s name. It’s growing on me but I don’t think I’ll ever love it.

In truth, I've never liked feminine names that end in -son. Even the perennial American darling Allison (which is why I don't think Alice will ever truly trend here) usually rubs me the wrong way. This is why, in terms of Madeleine vs. Madison, I'll always go for the former.
However, like you, I don't like "Maddy" at all, which is why Madeleine would always be a middle name if I used it, anyway.

I prefer Madeline myself. I have no idea why, but for a very very long time now, we are talking early childhood, the name Madison has made me think of a Pacifier in a baby's mouth. Highly possible the first Madison I have come across was as such, an infant, but it has been deeply ingrained in my consciousness for some time now. So I always imagine it as a baby's name as a result.

It's not really my style but I don't mind seeing other people use it. It works well for a pet too.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that Caroline and Carly mean "free man" and that it is sort of odd to hate Madison just because it means "son of...".

I think its ok, if it wasn't painfully overused I'd give it a 7/10. I actually think it looks better on a boy though.

Son of Maud is a daft name for a girl. And who wants a Mad daughter?

So am I. But, they do sound the same, and any child with a naughty sense of humour wouldn't hesitate to draw the parallel.
