[Opinions] Catherine, Jane, or Anne? (m)
Which would you choose for a daughter and why?
What would you choose for a middle name?
If you absolutely had to use a nickname, what would it be? You can get as creative as you want.
Thanks. :)

I’d go with Jane, purely because I have people I’m close to named Kathryn and Anne, and I feel like using those names would be weird, lol. (Plus, I think I slightly prefer Jane, anyway.)
Jane needs a long, somewhat unwieldy middle name. Jane Thomasina, maybe, or Jane Cornelia. Jane Wilhelmina?
I’d probably call her Jay. Or Janie.

Jane because I don't like the sound of the others, particularly when said repetitively. I prefer Catherine to Anne for same reason.
Jane Mozelle
Jane Claribel
Jane Rebecca
Jane Kreszentia
Jane Demetria
Jane Sybil Marion
Jane Iris Winifred
Jane Isidora Judith
Jane Drusilla Marigold
Jane Christabel Dorothy
My impression of them all is...
Jane can be punchy and sweet but is more prim than ideal. Catherine is boring but pleasantly sturdy. Anne is somehow both jauntier and plainer than either.
Preferred NNs...
Jane "Janet"
Anne "Nanette" / "Nettie" / "Nan"
Catherine "Cat"

Catherine. It can suit any personality and comes with tons of nickname possibilities.
I'd pick Kitty as a nn.

Catherine is out. There have been too many Catherine people and variants for too long. Pity: it must have been lovely once.
That leaves two monosyllables. OK ... Anne is a family name: my grandmother, a cousin, me and my daughter. So I'll give it a break!
And Jane is lovely, serene and understated.
Jane Felicity
Jane Rosamond
Jane Harriet Anne
Jane Dinah Eloise

Jane, it hits a lot of sweet spots and I think it's pretty. Plus it honors my grandma.
Jane goes with literally any middle name.
Jane Bernadette? Jane Valerie? Jane Hortensia? Maybe Jane Theophania.
Nicknames for Jane like what, Janie, Jay, ... Jackie... Janet? Probably Janet. That's cute honestly.
I also like Catherine and I'd probably use Cathy. I know so many nice Kathys. They tend to be older but honestly I just think of warm, bright, generous, motherly women and it makes me happy.
Anne doesn't hold my interest for 1 (one) millisecond
Edit: Changing it to Jane Vanessa

I see what you've done here. I'm going to go with Anne because Anne of Cleves is my favorite.
Lol

tough call, I'm pretty evenly tied between Catherine & Jane tbh... today I'll say Jane I think, because though Catherine has more NN potential I am partial to the NN Janie, it is very sweet and has a lot of positive images in my mind. Janie makes me think of a little girl in pigtails & a sundress with an icecream cone in hand during the hot summer months.
I'd probably pair it w/ Catherine? Jane Catherine, Jane Kimberly, Jane Elisabeth etc. something relatively tame for the middle so it doesn't disconnect.

I would choose Catherine because I like the nn Kat. I also like Jane and Anne. They are all good but I prefer Jane to Anne b/c I don't like the nn Annie.
I like them all, Catherine most

I’d choose Catherine. It’s a variant of a family name and I appreciate how many nicknames it has, whereas the others don’t so much. I like Catherine “Kitty”.
I think I would choose Catherine Araminta Rosalind.

Ooh, Jane Thomasina is great.
I like Jane and Catherine, but prefer Katherine at the moment (I used to prefer Catherine for years).
I never cared for Anne, no matter the spelling. I find it very bland and boring, especially because so many women have it as their middle name. I like "Anne of Green Gables", but apart from that I don't care for it. I know that some people think it's charming in its simplicity, but I prefer other names from that category like May or Lynn. Annabel is nice.
Jane is also overused as a middle name but it's very no-nonsense and strong and always makes me think of "Mary Poppins". I wouldn't use it, but I like it. I think it will have a comeback.
Catherine is overused but there are lots of nicknames and it is more classic than the other two. I like Katherine better because that makes more sense for the nicknames Katie and Kitty. I guess I'd do Catherine nn Catie.
Catherine Eleanor Aisling.
It needs two middle names and one that is a bit more unusual, especially with a common surname.

Jane
I like Anne too, but Jane is a winner - soft, but strong, simple, but not overused. Today, I'll go with Jane Artemisia. If I had to use a nickname, I'd go with Jenny.
