I like it. It's much better than boring Alex and it's kind of cool. Yes, it's an old name. I have a relative named this and he is in his 60s.

I wouldn't use it, but Axel is cool.

It's a very classic Swedish name, along the lines of the English James or John.
I like Axel and have considered using it. I quite dislike the modern English vibe of it though and I hate when it's spelled Axl.

It makes me think of axle, a central shaft for a rotating wheel, and by extension car parts in general. I can imagine Axel attending monster truck rallies and being a gear head.

It is a strong name and decidedly masculine. It isn't my cup of tea, but I can see it working well on certain personalities.

I like it in theory, but I’m scared that people are just going to associate it with an axel rod.

I had a neighbor named Axel, he was a year younger than me, which means he’d be turning 21 this year.

I don’t really like it, despite my newfound knowledge of its origins it sounds trendy, abrupt and harsh. It’s not a pleasant sound and it’s a little too close to a*shole.

When I was little, I said I would want to name my son "Torque" because I kept hearing it in car commercials. This name reminds me of that.

My first association is with Guns n Roses; not a bad band at all really. But then there's the part of the car that keeps the wheels apart, and that rather spoils it.
