[Opinions] Jonathan vs. Nathaniel
Which one, and why? What would you use as a middle name? **After supposedly dying on January 30, 2007 after eating tainted pancakes, she returned several times as an angel and was revealed to be alive on May 17, 2011. )**

Nathaniel in theory, but Jonathan, because I prefer Jon over Nate.

Both are great names, but I love Jonathan. :)

Both of them sound limp and feeble to me. If necessary, I'd use Jonathan because it shortens or could shorten to John or Jon. Nathaniel doesn't even have a good nn to commend it.Jonathan needs stiffening. Jonathan Richard? Jonathan Paul? Jonathan Victor?

NathanielI always forget about Nathaniel, even though I have a thing for *el names. Nathan is very common in my generation but likeable, and Nathaniel's still a neat name...thoughtful verging on broody but practical and sweet.Jonathan's okay, but I'm not drawn to it, in comparison.Nathaniel Peregrine
Nathaniel Nikolai
Nathaniel Casper
Nathaniel Jason
Nathaniel Geoffrey
Nathaniel Benjamin
Nathaniel Meriwether
Nathaniel Rene
Nathaniel Seneca

Nathaniel Meriwether Malachi

I’d go with Jonathan, simply because I prefer the nn Johnny than any nn options for Nathaniel. Maybe Jonathan River, Jonathan Oak, Jonathan Amos or Jonathan Sage.

I think Jonathan pairs nicely with nature names.

I really like both.I would choose Nathaniel because I enjoy the L ending, and it is slightly less common although still very familiar.
Nathaniel Simon sounds nice.

Jonathan. Nathaniel always just seemed too “hard” for me.

JonathanI'd use it anyway. Nathaniel is okay but it has the whiny sound of Daniel.Jonathan Patrick?

Nathaniel because it reminds me of Nathan, and I'm so fond of Nathan!
To be completely honest I prefer Nathan to Nathaniel.Nathaniel Adam
Nathaniel Henry
Nathaniel Milo
Nathaniel Giles
Nathaniel Evert
Nathaniel Jack
Nathaniel Kyle
Nathaniel Evan / Eden
Nathaniel Alexander, it's long, I know, but it's also posh, too posh, I guess :)

So do I.

I like both, but I'd pick Jonathan at gunpoint - it's more down to earth. Jonathan Ambrose and Nathaniel... Cleopas???? No but seriously maybe Nathaniel Charles... Nathaniel Levi? Nathaniel James? None of these are completely satisfying.
