[Opinions] Susan vs. Karen
What about THESE two names? Which would you choose for a daughter and why? What would you use as a middle name, and what would you name a brother and sister? **After supposedly dying on January 30, 2007 after eating tainted pancakes, she returned several times as an angel and was revealed to be alive on May 17, 2011. )**

My choice is Karen, easily. I've actually always liked the sound of Karen, and may have even chosen it had I been a mom in the 60s. It's a shame the name has been meme'd to death.(Meanwhile, I have never liked Susan, or any of the Su- names. I can't stand the sound, like I'm suing someone.)Karen Elizabeth, if I'm being realistic for the 60s. Otherwise, Karen Alexandra maybe?Karen's siblings would be Donna Louisa & Nicholas James.

The reason I asked about these two names......is because they are the names of Lena Dunham's toy poodles.I came across them when I was reading a list of celebrity dog names.

KarenLove how cute and simple Karen is, and phooey on that "Karen" trend. Let's see...for middle names, maybe Karen Josephine. Or Karen Therese. Both are family names.Brothers for Karen would have to be Paul, Derek, Joel, Peter, or Lance.Sisters for Karen would probably be Tricia, Moira, Clarissa, Kayla, or Rosemary.

Susan by a mile. I think Susan is a beautiful name and I always have. Of the boomer names, it’s one of the best.Susan Cecilia. I know a lot of people with think it’s lispy but I really like it.Siblings ElizabethBetsy” and Cormac.

I’m not a fan of either, but I would go with Susan. Karen has been ruined because of the slang.

I knew one Karen and one Susan "Susie", liked them both.I'd never use Karen for a daughter because it's become synonymous with petty outrage, but I like that name more than Susan. Karen is tidy and gentle. Susan sounds both too proper and like a dog name (I have come across 3+ dog Susie's, one of them being my sister's). I'd rather compromise and use Sharon.Karen Willow
Karen Angela
Karen Amalia
Karen Silvia
Susan Philippa
Susan Dorothea
Susan Clare
Susan Penelope Sharon Melody
Sharon Altagracia
Sharon Talya
Sharon Tova
Sharon Adela
Sharon Demetra Susan Rosemary Adela
Susan Demetra Melody*
Susan Philippa Clare
Susan Willow Dorothea Susan has siblings Peter and Lucy.
Karen has siblings Janet and Toby.
They are pretty interchangeable.

Susan, 100%It's a classic. I thought Karen was boring and ugly before it became associated with self-righteous racist women. I would pair Susan with something ornate: Susan Artemisia, Susan Euthalia, Susan Araminta, Susan Parthenope, Susan Melisande...Susan, Eugenia, and Herbert

Karen's recent tarnishing aside...I like them both - Karen is sweet and breezy, and Susan is fun and bright.
I'd rather use Susan, mainly because I've liked the Susans I've met, much more than the Karens, in real life.
I'd spell it Suzan because I'm just like that.

I prefer Karen as a name. It sounds warm and dependable at the same time. Susan is also a steady, unpretentious name, but it isn't as warm.Unfortunately, since calling someone a Karen is meant to silence middle age women who dare to complain, I would probably use Susan in the present climate. I do like Karen better though. Pretending that the Karen memes don't exist, I'll go with Karen Matilda or Karen Louise or Karen Lucy.Karen Matilda

Karen. I kind of hate how the internet ruined it, it’s my grandma’s name and I always thought it was a nice name, even now.Susan is ugly and I dislike Susie.

Susan is very drab. I'd use Suzanne - Susannah is a family name but I'd definitely tweak it, especially as a fn.But, in the absence of Suzanne, I'd choose Karen. I really like it, with the European pronunciation: KAHrin, like my Danish aunt.Karen Jennifer Clare
Daniel Hugo Keith
Helen Cecily Anne - two -en names could probably be improved upon, but tonight I'm liking them both, so ...

I might have said Karen before it had become a slur. I was really into The Baby-Sitters Club Little Sisters books when I was a kid and the protagonist was a 7 year old Karen. It seems happy and simple. It's a shame it's ruined now
:( I would be more likely to pick Susan. My mother is a Susannah and Susan feels like her more stately and proper cousin, old school fancy and upper crust. Fun stuff

I don’t really like Susan! But I do like Susanna and I like Suzanne a little more than Susan. They both have really lovely meanings though. Karen is ruined for a very long time for obvious reasons, and admittedly I was never a big fan of the name, but it’s actually not bad! Karina would be cooler though.I’d go with Karen as a middle name. By the time the child gets older the usage of Karen as a insult will probably be extinct, but you never know. Can I cheat and use Suzanne as the first name? If not, I’d go with Karen and use the nickname Ren. KarenRenOctavia Noor :)
