Help[Opinions] Can the name Shannon still be considered unisex?
For most of my life, everyone I have met whose name was Shannon was female. Awhile back, however, I met a man named Shannon. I think the name sounds kind of nice on a boy, but would it be considered too feminine to actually use for a male child/character?

In Australia it's pretty unisex. I went to school with a male Shannon and no female ones, but I do know females and males now. For a character I would find it more jarring that it is dated, more than I would worry about the character being male.

I know mostly male Shannons. Though the last class I had a shannon in there was a girl and a boy Shannon!

If I heard the name Shannon without seeing the person I would assume they were female as it sounds feminine to me. My sister is called Shantelle and her nicknames are Shan/Shanny so I guess any name that starts with Shan sounds girly to me.

No, not at all! I know most people associate the name for girls, but I personally prefer the name on males and have even known a few. All of whom bore the name with complete ease. Seeing a male child or character named Shannon wouldn't really be weird, apart from the name being a bit dated itself.

I have a 2nd cousin Shannon male in his 40s, but I think it's now more feminine

I don't know any Shannon's, but I just wanted to say that I actually prefer Shannon as masculine name.

I've likewise known mostly female Shannon's and 1 male Shannon. My stepsister is a Shannon actually. The more times I say it the more it does sound unisex but for me personally I think it just suites women more, perhaps cause I'm more used to it that way. I would consider Kiernan the modern day equivalent to Shannon in vibe but alternatively prefer Kiernan on a boy.
