[Opinions] Re: Joyce

I'm the only person here who likes Joyce better than Joy!
Years ago, I thought that Joy was a stupid name to give your child. If she was unhappy, she would be nicknamed Joyless or Sadness, right? By some wisecrackers?. But nowadays, I'm in love with it as a middle name for Serena. Serena Joy~. Serenity Joy might be too much though. Its like calling your child Happy Happy.
As for Joyce, years ago, I thought that it was old-fashioned and laughable on a male. But as you said, the name would be so freaking refreshing. It would be a break from the -ley and -aden trend, and yet it would blend in with the surname as a first name trend! Why hasn't it gotten revived?
It sounds like Rejoice, and Rejoice indeed! I wouldn't mind it on a guy either, but to avoid problems, I'd choose it as his middle name and give him a manlier first name. Patrick Joyce or something. I really really like it on a girl. Since its dated, it would be better as a middle name for both genders, actually. So they don't get "grandma name" jokes.
