[Opinions] Scotia
https://www.behindthename.com/name/scotia/submittedWhat do you think of this name?I like the fact that it means "blossom", besides being the Latin name for Scotland.

I really dislike the sound. It seems as namey as Gaulish or Stamen would to me.

I don't get the appeal. It just seems like someone wanted to name their kid Scott but since it was a girl, it's Scotia instead.

I think the 'blossom' meaning is a bit of a stretch. I don't enjoy geographical names at the best of times; I don't like many lnfns either, and Scotia ticks both boxes. One of my dearest friends has the ln Scott, and I'd honour him readily, but by using his fn, not a feminisation of his ln.

It does have a nice sound, I wouldn't hate it being used. And that meaning is lovely of course.

I do like Scotia, but I prefer Scottia, two Ts. I'm not sure why. I guess it looks more finished..? Its certainly more pretty than Scotta. It sounds like a feminization of Scott. Thats the only problem. Some in the US would think that you were naming her after a male. They know nothing about the blossom meaning, which is quite lovely!

It would not work in Canada. Not only is there the province, but Scotiabank is a very well-known, widespread institution.

Hi !!!!Wow! It's interesting.
Unfortunately I think it's too similar to Scozia (Scotland in Italian).
