[Opinions] Amythyst
Amythyst Kiah is a musician. What do you think of this spelling of Amethyst?Usually I dislike when people change spelling in word names, but the more I look at this one, the more I like it.~ song of the week: "Maid of Culmore" Rising Appalachia

Amethyst is pretty, Amythist feels like a typo.

Horrible! How can anyone look at it and not think that the first three letters absolutely have to sound like Amy? And -thy- like 'thy', as in 'will be done'?

If it was unrecognizable to me, I'd read it like "A mythist" before I would "Amy thy(st)"...because the myth part sticks out to me more than Amy. Meth sticks out to me in Amethyst as well.I guess it might make more sense in my accent, because I tend to say Jenny like Ginny (and don't really say Amethyst with an eh sound). She's from the same general area I am.

A no go for me, double ys are rarely attractive in my experience

Terrible just make it Amy or amethyst

I dislike it - the jumpy Ys make me think of those uncannily animated childrens' cartoons. It doesn't have to make sense, it's shiny! Wee!

I prefer the original spelling Amethyst, because they would have to correct people all the time and they might mispronounce it as Amy-thyst.
