Like a ransom note? It’s also the name of a town near me, so no.

Sounds like something a country music star or rodeo folk would use. It's highly evocative but also completely devoid of the awareness of real world consequences. Reminds me of the time I met someone who was named "Rawhide" by their Western-loving British parents. Perhaps unsurprisingly Rawhide was in the process of a legal name change.

Wow. That's really not a namey word...I don't even like Tanner, but it's a gorgeous classic next to Rawhide.

I know, I'm usually the type of person who loves meeting people with unexpected names but in this case even I was like "oh dear"

I might assume it was a lnfn after someone's great great great grandfather who robbed a bank or was held hostage. Or after a Randolph but they wanted to avoid Randy, idk.I don't think I'd care about it.

I know a dude whose surname is Ransom.I also have a college friend whose nephew is named Haz ard (no space) which was a family surname for them. Seriously!

Reminds me of the Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children author. It's definitely a strange word name. Like, I get "Hope" and "Faith" and even things like "Journey" or "Freedom", but Ransom? I'm not so sure.

The connotations are unpleasant. A ransom is what kidnappers demand to be paid. If it was just a string of sounds and had no meaning, then the sound might be nice enough. The only time I've encountered it as a name was for an unpleasant character in Knives Out.

It's one of those guilty pleasure names that will never be used.

It's for people who don't know how to read and that don't care that words have meanings

I think it's crummy. Ransom is what you pay to get a kidnap victim back before they cut his ear offf, or to get the pirates to release the freighter they've hijacked, or give the nut job to jump out of the plane with and become a legend. It's just not a name.
