Anyway, I'm fond of this name, but I wouldn't use it. I like it on both genders, but dislike the nickname Val, as it seems too bland.

I prefer Valentina for a girl. I don't like it in any form for a boy.

Valentine is one of few names that I like equally on either gender. I'll admit, though, that I'm more likely to use it as a middle name than a first name - primarily because of the holiday.
