Michael wins. Michael is timeless, nice-sounding, and I like the etymology.

Jacob is boring, trendy, and overused. I never saw the appeal.

Michael. It hasn't been trendy for a good few years, which makes it a whole lot fresher than Jacob, and Mike is preferable to Jake as a nn.
