One of the big reasons I love Helen is because then you get to use Hel as a nickname. I think it's sharp and chic, like Viv or Bette. All the reasons people are turned off by Hel are also reasons why I love it.
Helena is nice too, it's just a bit much for me. I say it like "Helen-uh".
