[Opinions] Hippolyta, nn Lyta
I think I posted about Hippolyta a while back, but I want to know what you think of the nickname Lyta. Hippolyta is hi-PAHL-i-ta, Lyta is LEE-ta. (And yes, I have been reading Sandman again lately).*******************Personal Name List:https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/187938Guilty Pleasure Name List:https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/187938/140061

I like it. Lyta isn't obvious but it's not a stretch either. The obvious ones to me would be Hippa (too close to hippo-- obviously it's "horse" but everyone would think "hippopotamus" and therefore "fat") or Poly/Polly (doesn't really work because it's a totally different style).

It's sorta fun in a...well... 'I was burdened with a weird name and am making the most of it with a quirky nickname and probably never, ever actually tell people my full name' way.
Hippolyta is cool in theory, and Lyta is cute/fun as a nickname but yeah...Hippo.

No matter what the nickname is, I can’t get over hippo being in this name.

I think Lyta could theoretically work with something else though

Yeah any inclusion of the word hippo is a no go for me, sorry

I don't like the hippo part.

Don't like it at all

Very few people would be able to resist Hippo as a nn, which is enough to turn me right off the whole name. Lyta looks better than it sounds, to me. LEEta; rhymes with Anita but isn't as good.
