Probably because Darby sounds like Derpy, not a positive association.
I knew a female Darby growing up and she never liked her name. Our classmates thought it wasn't attractive as well. I suppose because it's awkward sounding.
I don't hate it but I don't necessarily like it, but I feel the same for Darcy as well.
