Why name a child after a wicked Roman empress? I don’t even like the sound of the name.

I don’t know anything about the saint and I’m not sure how to pronounce it, but looking at it, it doesn’t seem like it would have a nice sound. It seems angry and aggressive. I think it’s the grip part and the ag beginning being like aggravated, aggressive, agony, agitated, etc.

It’s certainly got substance. There’s a lot of history and meaning behind it and I like it in theory. Where it falls apart for me is that I don’t love the sound. It feels very aggressive and almost violent.

It is also the name of a notorious Roman empress, the wife and alleged murderer of Claudius. Quite apart from that, it is an inconveniently long name with not much potential as far as nicknames are concerned: Aggie? Pinny? Rip? I'd be amazed to meet one.
