I have a cousin Chip. Officially he's a James III, but he might as well be Chip officially because he's in his 30s and has still never used James; it's not even to avoid confusion, because no one in his family is called by James (it's more like JD, Jim, Chip, Jett). I think it's comically preppy, but it is familiar to me...I've also got a cousin Dale, so the cartoon chipmunk connection sticks out at me. :)I suppose it could also be related to (or sound familiar to people because of) something like Chippenham, Chippendale, Chippewa. I did grow up with a Chatham and a Macon (also kids with names like Tripp, Trey, Chase, Poe, Kent, Wentworth "Worth", Dakota, Bucky, Blake, Rusty, Kyle) which seem like they could be similar.Goldie's OK, seems about like Rosie imv. I generally like Golda and Marigold and prefer those, but I remember someone posted here about a celeb using Goldie Patricia, and I thought that was a cute combo.

I like Goldie. Chip...not so much.

Unfortunately these names sound like dog names. I'm just not a fan.

I like them as nicknames, but as full names, they don't really seem proper. I think of Goldilocks and potato chips - also, "having a chip one's shoulder". I don't dislike them, but I'm not interested in them.

I knew a Chip once, but he was actually named Charles. He was, I think, Charles III: his grandfather was known as Charlie, his father as Chuck, and he was Chip. Nice guy; I felt he deserved better. Goldie, on a human, is too Hawn, and only she can carry it off.

Not people names. Come on, can't you give your child a full name? Goldie, how do they expect that to not sound ridiculous

Were they dogs? LOL

I have never liked Goldie for a girl. Ugly, and a dog’s name. Chip is something I’m used to for a boy but I still don’t care for it. Not even that bad. They go together actually.

Yuck, they sound like a pair of cocker spaniels.
