Reminds me too much of Covid now.

I prefer Rhona, but it's a nice name nonetheless. However, the COVID-19 pandemic (which a lot of really ignorant people were calling "The Rona" during lockdown - usually to downplay its seriousness) has kind of ruined the name for me, sadly.Ronan, despite its similarity, doesn't remind me of Coronavirus at all. I still like Ronan.

I don’t think it’s cute to be honest. I think of it as a nickname for Corona (Which I was actually surprised was used as a given name), and there are much more beautiful R names with even beautiful meanings in the country of Scotland. Those names are Ailsa, Iona, Islay, and Skye.

Here in Ontario, it would be like naming a child “Home Depot”. A lot of people also used ‘rona as a nickname for the Corona virus early on so it’s got two strikes against it for me. Apart from that, I think there are prettier sounds.

My partner has a niece named Rona. It reminds me of her and she's very cute.
