After the Frankish occupation of Essex and
Kent both male heirs to the throne were (
Walter and
Edmund) and their wives were executed as well.
Princess Edith’s life was spared as long as she were to marry a Frankish noble called Count
Ivo, and she agreed so that she could live, she also convinced Count
Ivo to take both of
Edmund and Roberta’s estranged children in, but they went on to have to daughters them self named
Godeliva and
Hildegarde. This was the Tragic ending of the house of Wessex.
Thanks for hosting I enjoyed this!!!
