Year Forty-One
Thaïs and I have some issues, but we work them out and stay together.

Year Forty-Two
I'm not doing well mentally. My arthritis is affecting my mental state. I want to draw so badly, but I can't. On top of that, Rodica has left the house to go to college for pre-law. Thaïs decides to take some time of work and take me on a surprise vacation, while Robin stays with his Aunt Phoebe. Spending some time away with my life partner helps a lot, and I'm able to visit Rodica soon. Seeing how much Robin missed me is wonderful help, too.

Year Forty-Three
My mother passes away of old age. Phoebe and Rodica travel for the funeral, and Thaïs temporarily works online so that we can live with my father for a while as he grieves. Phoebe and I discuss putting him in a home, but decide against it.

The stress from my mother's death leads to some relationship problems, but Thaïs and I are able to get over them.

My cousin Bertina decides to cause a scene at the family reunion by airing out all her issues with the queer community. Thaïs, Rodica, Robin, and I promptly leave. She and I already didn't speak often, but we haven't talked at all since. On a lighter note, Rodica comes home for the summer and introduces us to her boyfriend, Edmund Eagle Cope, a creative writing major she met in math class.

My dad, nearing the end of his life, has been diagnosed with amnesia. We're not sure if it's dementia yet, but we're very worried it might be.

A month before he's supposed to graduate high school, Robin runs away. We find him safe and sound that night, sleeping in the woods. We have a talk with him, and he tells us he's just scared of growing up and graduating and was hoping he could get away from it all. We hold him close and help him as much as we can, and Thaïs helps get him some therapy.
