I knew a family with a baby named Cloud - a little boy. They were from an Islander background, living in Australia. I posted their family back in 2017 (so age them up another 5 years):Jax (m, 13)
Keturah (f, 10)
Leonidas "Simmy" (m, 8)
Loren (f, 7)
Raven (m, 4)
Cloud (m, 2)To answer your question, I would wonder what we as a human race were going to start naming our kids after next cos Cloud sounds like it's at the bottom of the barrel for word names.

It makes me think of cloud as in online storage. I don't like it.

That his/her parents were hippies and that the siblings were likely Rain, Storm, Tempest, River, Sky, etc.

I'd assume their parents meant Claude.

Dude I'd love that! It's one of my "guilt pleasure" names (gah, hate that term). My sister actually had a coworker who went by Cloud as his "English name".

I would think their parents are either hippies or huge fans of Final Fantasy.

It does not work as a word name. It simply does not sound like a name. I’d feel bad for them.

I wouldn't be that surprised. It's currently being used about as often as word names like Merlin, Lark, Blossom, Amaryllis, Dusty, Dove, Cliff, Peregrine, Hart. I prefer it to Reef, Canyon, and Clyde, for sure. My first association with it as a name is video games (I think there is a Final Fantasy character named it?). Then I think of St. Cloud, which is the name of several places; in that context it reminds me of names like Claude, Clement, Klaus, Clotilde. Mainly it seems like Sky except geekier. An association I don't really like is Google cloud, but I don't immediately think of it.

Hippie parents.

Like a clown with a cold in the head. I would be unable to take it seriously on a human, though I love watching clouds in the sky.

I think of the One Direction song, “Clouds” lmao. Anyways, maybe as a middle name it could work but as a first name it’s a tad ridiculous. Decent names that mean cloud or something among those lines:Anan / Anani
Hilla
Hodei
Houa
Mahpiya
Neil / Niall (Possibly)
Nephele
Sky / SkyeMy favorite is Sky / Skye. Which I would happily use for a daughter if a partner liked it.

I would think her parents might have a good weed hookup.
