Help[Opinions] Isla vs Maeve
I've recently been working on the last "novel" in a trilogy that's very near and dear to me, and have been contemplating about changing the name of one of my characters for a while now. I'm hoping you guys could help me decide.
Here's a brief description of her, if it at all helps:
9 YO. Redhead, brown eyes, light freckles, petite-on the smaller side for her age. She's extremely precocious & strong willed. (Oh, very much so!), She has two older brothers named, Lars (17 YO) Finn (15 YO) and their parents Melanie & Patrick-although never physically in the story (pretty much just mentioned)
Story takes place in modern times in a small town in Maine.
The name I have for her right now, and been working with is 'Isla' and although I like the name and feel that it works for her, I've been very much considering, 'Maeve' (Mae/Maevie as possible nicknames) for her. I believe it might be better suited to her. But I'm not sure. My main concern really is that I have another character named David (Primarily known by 'Dave', along with having a couple of other characters who have that distinct 'ay' sound in their names. But the one with Dave seem to be the most problematic, if at all. The two characters are pretty much secondary characters, and don't have any scenes together, so I wonder if that matters at all. Also would a Maeve from Maine be weird you think?
