I like Elspeth, not too much for Angus.

I've always really liked Elspeth. Angus I go back and forth on. Sometimes I think it's kind of charming, sometimes it just makes me think of cows.

I truly don't know why people like the name Elspeth. I usually like the "el" sound a lot, especially at the start of names, but the lsp combo and "peth" in general just don't do it for me. Angus does make me think of Angus beef and I don't love the way the A sounds in it, but I prefer it to Elspeth.

Not sure if they're currently authentic, but they have a wonderful 1920s air about them. As if the Swallows and Amazons found themselves sailing on Loch Ness ... these would be the new friends they'd make!

They feel stereotypically Scottish. Angus reminds me of Angus beef.

They'd be delightful for a curmudgeonly couple running a bed and breakfast near a murky and craggy lake in a 1950s crime novel, or a pair of tired, but well-loved terriers. I can't picture them on children, though - they seem to be septugenerian by nature.

I like Angus, I don’t care much for Elspeth.

Elspeth is ugly, but I adore Angus.

I don't dislike Elspeth, but it's always sounded kind of odd coming out of my mouth. I kind of like it in the abstract, though when it comes to names I might actually consider using, it isn't up there.

I've always disliked the name Angus. I have two associations: angus beef & Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison. It's always seemed a strange choice for someone to use on a human. (The cat of that particular book feels more appropriate.)
