Our daughter is named after my grandmother. We are now expecting a son. We both like the name Ari. Is it too similar to Annie to use for a sibling?

Annie is such a sweet name and Ari is so handsome, but way too similar. I’d save Ari for the middle name.

It's just a special association to a trip I took to Iceland a few years ago. The middle names will be Alexander Jack though. That I know for sure! Thanks for your feedback

It's match and I'd consider it too close because this wouldn't pass the 'shouting-through-the-house-test'. If you'd shout one of the two, your children wouldn't be able to hear clearly if they were being called or their sibling.

Too bad though, I like Ari! (Arie even more)

I like that, the "shouting-through-the-house test"! It's a good way to phrase an idea that I've been unable to articulate before.
