[Opinions] Brett
What are your opinions on the name Brett for a boy? I really like it, tbh. The only setback would be that it reminds me of the word “brat”. Either way, it doesn’t hinder me from loving the name.

I very much prefer Brent. Easier to say for me.
I like Brett better for a girl. I'm probably swayed by the actress Brett Butler. I've known a few people named Brett about half female and half male.
I find it dated and forgettable, on a par with Brad(ley). I can't hear it as rhyming with 'brat', or with anything other than 'get'; dialectal differences, perhaps?
Oh, my bad! I didn’t mean to say rhyme. I meant to say that “it reminds me of the word ‘brat’”. Let me fix that right now. Brett also rhymes with “get” in my dialect. Also, the word “let”.
I actually quite like it, even despite the Brett kavannaugh association. (😤) He's part of the reason the name went down. Oh, I'm sure of it. Still, it's a decent-enough name. Simple, known but not overdone. I far prefer it to other similar names such as Brent or Rhett.
Objectively I don't dislike it and prefer it to Brent. But it's another name that feels out-of-place, as though it's time has come and gone. I have a hard time imagining it will get a revival.
