I always thought it was ugly and unattractive. Just like Olga, but Olga has some charm, glamour, and regality to it. Gertrude is just old-fashioned and has a nice meaning or whatever. I get a weird feeling in my mouth whenever I say this name. So no, not a fan.

It’s incredibly ugly.

I love it. To me it's strong and beautiful. The meaning is cool, although I don't care about meanings. I like it in its entirety with the only nickname I prefer being Truly.

I never understood the appeal. I was almost named Gertrude and I’m so thankful I never had the name. It sounds like a mean old lady. It ends with “rude”, and starts with what sounds like hacking. Gertie and Trudy aren’t really good nicknames either.

the sound is just not appealing to me -and all the nicknames are just as drab and unattractive as well - Gertie, Gert or Trudy. Tru would be okay if there wasn't a Kardashian connection. This brought to mind that friends episode when Ross has to dance with that larger "little girl" at Chandler/Monica's wedding and her name was "Gert" and him trying to cover up his grossed out reaction to it --- I think a lot of folks would have a similar reaction to the name.

I love it. I would never use it, because it is one of those names that is considered universally ugly and I wouldn't do that to a child, but I love it. I think Gertie is adorable.

I actually rather like it. It's old and a bit clunky, but I kind of like it.I don't think I could ever use it, of course.

It's ugly and clunky, but in the best way. I like Gertie more than Trudy as a nickname. Tru would be kind of cute, though.

It's a name I really want to like. The meaning is so cool. It's just the sounds don't sound good to my American English speaking/thinking brain.
