[Opinions] Re: Names you mispronounced
in reply to a message by ari.
There were two flowers whose names I turned out to be mispronouncing: Liatris and Linaria. I thought they were like Beatrice with an L, and li-NAHR-ee-uh, and thought they were both lovely names. Turns out they are lie-A-tris (with a stressed short-A) and lie-NER-ee-uh. So disappointed.***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381

Also, Phaedra. And how could I forget Phaedra! The pronunciation history of that name is long and storied (https://www.behindthename.com/name/phaedra/comments), but my instinctive pronunciation is still FAY-druh (even though it's pretty much dead wrong).

That's how I would pronounce it. There are probably a lot I pronounce wrong. I first read Ginevra in Harry Potter as Ginerva, so I said that wrong for a long time.Edit: I also though Antigone was An-tee-gone and I'm constantly messing up Imogen.
