[Opinions] Joanna vs. Jocasta
Which one, and why?

I prefer the name Joanna. It’s mainly because of its sound.
Joanna if I have to choose. I find it boring but it’s better than a woman known for accidentally marrying her son, who also killed her husband, and who committed suicide when she found out.
I don’t like Jocasta at all.
It’s associated with incest, and just has an ugly sound in general. It sounds like a cartoon villain almost. I don’t see any benefits to the name.
Joanna is definitely my pick. I’m not a super big fan but it does make me think of craft supplies, and I think I used to know one in elementary.

Joanna. I had a childhood friend with that name.
I don't mind Jocasta and I don't immediately think of the Oedipus myth. But I love Joanna; it's probably my favourite fem form of John, and I'd use it as a fn if I could be confident that it wouldn't shorten to Jo. Which I couldn't be, so I'd use it as a mn instead. Jocasta doesn't suggest pleasing short forms: Jo? Joke? Cassie? Nah.
Joanna is cute and would work on a lot of people.
Jocasta is best known for incest, which makes it a hard pass.

Joanna. It's less associated with accidental incest.
