[Opinions] Eartha
Do you like Eartha. What are some good middle names. Do you like it sounds better for a kid or adult.

Eartha Kitt is a lovely namesake, but I don't really care for it on its own. I'm probably in a minority here but I really like Martha, and think that would be a better choice.

I like it okay. It's cool. It seems happy, but in a calm way, and not prissy.
I feel slightly skeptical of the etymology. For no reason - just a feeling that it seems unlikely, that it was invented based on Earth... it seems like it might have been one of those things where a name was meant to be something else, but it got written down as Eartha. I dunno, I'm just speculating.
I understand why many people don't like the sound ... but I feel like the Ur- sound is soft and pleasant, unlike Bur- as in Bertha (American accent). I also like Ursula. Eartha reminds me more of Samantha, somehow, than it does of Martha.
I can picture it on a kid or an adult easily, although it's rare enough that it'd surprise me either way. It could seem "hippie."
I'd be surprised by it on a kid also just because it seems pretty antique. About as surprising as a kid named Ursula, not as surprising as Bertha.
I dunno about middle names.

Eartha Kitt! I admire the actress and strongly associate Eartha with her. Apart from her, the name has strong mother earth vibes that not just anyone can pull off. I would put it in a category of names with Gloria that suit an expansive, strong personality. Eartha very much sounds like a woman and not a child.Edited to add middle names:
Eartha Ceres - definitely over the top, but I like it.
Eartha Yvette
Eartha Frances
Eartha Fey
Eartha Anais
Eartha Mavis - maybe too foreboding?

I find the sound of the first syllable unpleasant. Like Bertha, which is a family name but which I wouldn't use if I had as many daughters as a herring. So, I would rather not encounter it on anyone, child or adult. Just about any middle name would improve it; perhaps not Ermentrude.

Eartha Kitt is a pretty good association. I think it has an okay sound to it actually - I kinda like Eartha. I’m not the biggest fan - but it’s better than Bertha for sure. As far as earth related names go, I prefer Gaia. Much more pretty in sound.Eartha Reine

I liked it when I was younger, but now I prefer Martha. The "Earth" part just sounds off to me and I think it's quite weird when you literally name someone after the Earth, especially in the English language. I think it fits an adult lady, and I associate this name with Eartha Kitt. Some middle names:
Eartha Barbara
Eartha Gertrude
Eartha Katharine
Eartha Kit
Eartha Lorraine
Eartha Ovidia

It's very... Earthy? Gamy? But also aggressively, offensively ugly, much like rhyming Bertha, and, to a lesser extent, Martha. I love Eartha Kitt, but even she can't redeem this. RoxStar once described this name thusly:"It sounds like something used on some poor Dust Bowl Okie back in 1933 and she'd have siblings named things like Oba, Alva and Del, and you couldn't be sure who was a boy and who was a girl."I echo her sentiment.Eartha Charmian
