WDYT of this nn? At the moment my favorite nn for Samuel is Shemp, though I've quite liked the nn Shimmy for some time as well. I've also seen it used as a nn for Shimshon and Shimon. Which name do you like it best as a nn for?

For me, it's about the same as naming a kid Watusi...
I hear "Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn," "I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate," "Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Pop," etc. It's not a name--it's a dance.
Spelled differently--like, say, Shimi, perhaps, though that looks like SHEE-mee--I could acccept it. Or, if it was a nickname that evolved naturally, I could accept it--sort of like Duckie, you know? But as a planned thing? It feelse extremely contrived.
I think I like Shimon best of the three.

I think Shimmy, and Shemp are kind of cute, at the same time out of the ordinary. I like Shimmy as a nickname for Shimon of Shimshon because they are so close in sound; however, Shimmy and Shemp could work well wth any S-name imo.
