[Opinions] The real Alice in Wonderland and her family
I've been reading a book by Christina Bjork and Inga-Karin Eriksson called The Other Alice, which is about Lewis Carroll's (real name Charles Dodgson) process of writing Alice in Wonderland and the girl Alice is based on, named Alice Liddell. In it is included a list of the names of Alice Liddell and her family.
Her father: Henry George Liddell (1811-1898)
Her mother: Lorina Hannah Liddell, born Reeve (1826-1910)
Their children:
Edward Henry Liddell "Harry" (1847-1911)
Lorina Charlotte Liddell (1849-1930)
James Arthur Charles Liddell (1850-1853)
Alice Pleasance Liddell (1852-1934)
Edith Mary Liddell (1854-1876)
Rhoda Caroline Anne Liddell (1859-1949)
Albert Edward Arthur Liddell (1863-1863)
Violet Constance Liddell (1864-1927)
Frederick Francis Liddell "Eric" (1865-1950)
Lionel Charles Liddell (1868-1942)
Thoughts?
My favourite combo is Violet Constance and I really like the idea of Pleasance as a middle name (apparently it honoured one of Alice's family members). The names all seem like either strong classics or archaic gems and I like the set in total.
LISTEN TO THE MUSTN'TS
- Shel Silverstein
Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child,
Listen to the DON'TS
Listen to the SHOULDN'TS
The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON'TS
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me—
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be.

Elenore Liddell is lovely.
Eric is an interesting nn for Frederick: I've seen Derick used IRL, but never Eric.
I don't like Lorina, Charlotte, Edith, Rhoda, Violet or Lionel. The rest are OK: my favourites would be James, Alice, Mary, Caroline, Anne and Francis.

I love: Edward, Charlotte, Arthur, Pleasance (what a wonderful middle name!), Edith, Caroline, Constance, Francis, and Lionel. I did notice that they repeated quite a few middle names, and then almost ran out for the last few, but I like that they used more unique names like Rhoda and Pleasance which really stand out in the Victorian era.
And off topic - “Listen to the Mustn’ts” is my favourite poem!

It's my favorite poem too! I love Shel Silverstein.
Same ;)
Aside from poor James & Albert, who died very young, and Edith, who died at 22, the Liddell brood lived quite a long time. Rhoda reached 90!
I like this Victorian sibset on the whole, and like you Violet Constance is my favorite combo. I also really like Rhoda Caroline (though Anne is barely a sound there).
