Elizabeth is nice. As you say, all the nicknames help keep it somewhat fresh even if some of the nicknames get stale. Eliza, Elsie, Beth, Betty, Betsy, Libby...

Charles is rather dull, and Charlie sounds infantile. Carlos is handsome.

I adore the name Elizabeth, Bess being my favourite nickname. It’s regal but friendly, good for all ages, and a feminine but solid name that everyone knows. It’s one of those classic names I would use despite popularity, like David. And now that it had the added namesake of HRH Elizabeth, it makes me ten times more eager to use it.

I’m not a big fan of the name Charles. I like the nickname Charlie though. It’s quite stuffy. It has a good association to Little House on the Prairie for me, but that’s about it.

I love the name Elizabeth. It’s a classic name that will never go completely out of style. There are tons of nickname possibilities too. Beth, Betty, Betsy, Liza, Liz etc.

Charles is ok. I don’t hate it but it’s not a name I would ever choose for a child. Charlie is cute as a nickname but I can’t stand Chuck or Chucky.

I wish I liked Elizabeth.. but I don't. It was my grandmothers name but she only went by Betty.

I have always liked Charlie quite a lot, but I have never cared for Charles. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. It feels so stuffy in a not-fun way. I like fanciful names, but it just feels "too much" for me even outside the scope of the royal connection. I only tolerate it in connection to the Little House on the Prairie TV series from the 1970s because Michael Landon was a total babe lol XD "Yes.. keep working on that construction with your shirt off in those old timey suspenders on Charles. It gives me life..." Lmao!!

Elizabeth is just top notch in my book. Overused but classic and more substantial and meaningful imo than its peers like Mary or Sarah (though I do love Sarah). It has a particular feminine and graceful air to it whoever it's on. Rare to see it in full these days but I have known a couple of Elizabeths in my life who committed to the full name. But it is interesting how different Elizabeth nicknames come in and out of fashion through the years. I'm usually most torn between Elsa and Beth. I've loved Elsa since I was a kid and saw the movie Born Free about the lioness Elsa, and named a cat after her. I wanted to use Elsa once upon a time long before I decided I best liked Evangeline / Eva at age 12. So it has been Quite a long time for me in my naming fandom pantheon. But then Frozen came along and for better or worse tied itself to the image of Elsa for the foreseeable future. It is in part because of my predominantly German heritage and in part because of aesthetic that I prefer Elisabeth.

I wonder how this event will affect the popularity of the names Elizabeth and Charles. Or if it will at all! Maybe there will be a few more baby girls with the middle name Elizabeth.

I like Charles ok; I've always found Charlie very cute, and I love the NN Chaz. Elizabeth is a nice name but I guess I'm so used to it that it doesn't seem like anything special to me. I do like Eliza a lot, and Betsy has really been growing on me.

I was watching the movie Steel Magnolias when I heard the big news, and came up with "Magnolia Elizabeth" as a commemorative combo. I guess Elizabeth Magnolia sounds nicer. Lizzie Magnolia sounds like a plucky character from a children's book.

Oh, without a doubt same here. She has reigned throughout the course of several generations. Suffice to say that TONS of people have never known any other monarch. This change is going to take adjusting to, especially for the family and to rest of the world.
I can't adjust to KING Charles. It's just...weird somehow. Plus, the dog breed always comes to mind. Hope no one minds me saying that. (Named after one of their ancestors undoubtedly)
That aside, I've always quite enjoyed the name Elizabeth. It may be overused and very mainstream, but it's also a solid classic. (And yes, lots of nn options as well). Charles (although certainly another strong and classic choice) I've always felt kinda neutral about. I mean it's alright, but I guess that I've always preferred the nn of Charlie more. Still, it's a lot better than the name Phillip/Phil, which I don't care for at all.
Elizabeth is certain to go up the charts (from both sides of the "pond", even by a smidge. In fact, I'll be surprised if it doesn't. Maybe even Alexandra & Mary as well) hard to say the deal for Charles.

I like Elizabeth in its entirety and also the nn Beth. Charles sounds harsh and unappealing and the nn Charlie is so overused and boring.
