Help[Opinions] Amily
I've been watching the show God's Favorite Idiot, and there's a character named Amily. I thought it was spelled Amelie until I read the description of the show. What do you think of Amily? Do you think it's a better spelling for English or is it butchering Amelie?
Personally, I think Amelie is fine and works fine in English. I think Amily just looks like a weird version of Emily or Amy. Amelie just reminds me of how Natalia is related to Natalie.

It's a rare case of a triple butchering: Amelie and Emily, forced into a very uncomfortable merger and with a passing nod to Amy. Ill advised.

I 100% agree with you. Amelie works fine and is a better visual than Amily. At first glance that name would get mistaken easily.

I never heard of the show before, so I did a quick IMBD search. Anyway, I don't particular care for it, the name that is. If I saw it in a book or something, my initial reaction would be to say it as 'A-milly' (sort of like Emily, but more of an 'ah' sound) I would never would imagine it was to be read as Amelie. Amelie is just far more appealing to look at. Plus Amily makes me think of the 'lammily doll' from a few years back, just upon spelling.
