Help[Opinions] Janessa
I would like to name a book character Janessa. She would be the main character's aunt who was born in 1982. Unfortunately, Janessa is not on the top 100 list in New Zealand (the country my book is set) for that year. Does that matter?
Also, do you think Janessa flows well with Laura? Laura would be Janessa's sister, the main character's mother.

I don't think popularity matters, but I don't think it goes with Laura, Vanessa would work better

I think the popularity doesn't matter at all, besides, what matters is when yourself have fun writing the story, in my opinion. Just like Ngaire doesn't appear on top 100 girl names in New Zealand at the time doesn't mean it doesn't exist, right? :")
I think Janessa flows well with Laura, though. (I actually prefer Vanessa haha)
Edit: just don't name her names like Nevaeh, Amoura, Finleigh, etc. since those names don't exist at the time
