[Opinions] Indian names if you’re not Indian?

In an earlier post, I asked for opinions on Avani and Indali, two Indian names I love. Do you think it’s fine to use Indian names if I have no Indian heritage?

I think it’s fine to use an Indian name if you’re not Indian. Of course, it does depend on the name. You might not want to use a name that is almost 100% associated with Hinduism.

Generally...I think no. Which sucks because I love the name Uma, and I have seem it on other white women because of Uma Thurman, but I just wouldn't feel totally comfortable with it.

Why not? If you use a name because you love that's really all the reason you need.
