To be honest, I don’t think it has any religious associations. Sure, Holly is a Christmas plant. However, the bush blooms in spring and summer. So, perhaps that could eliminate those feelings? I think that Holly is a very beautiful name. If you’re still skeptical, I recommend Hollis (lol, personal favorite) and Hollyn.

The name and its sound are ok, but I dislike the association with Christmas and how it sounds like the word "holy"

I love it and it's good name, I don't associate it with Christmas or christians

It’s very pretty, it would be on my list had it not been ruined for me by a horrible girl called Holly. But you have no such experience, so go ahead and use it!

To me it’s just a wintry plant name- I really like it because of that too, most plant names I know are spring/ summery.

I just hear a plant name, I've never considered it Christmas adjacent.

I mean for starters you can celebrate Christmas and not be Christian, also Holly is a lovely winter name not a Christmas name imo

I know but I think of the Christmas song.

a bit middle aged and tired but it is decent, I mildly like it. It has a nice solid image to it

It does not remind me of Christmas, not even a little bit. It's dated, the same age as Heidi and Alicia, but not as unfashionable.
I like it alright! I think the only reason I don't like it more, is because I strongly associate it with a particular Holly I knew.I feel like holly as a symbol seems more pagan than Christian. I don't know for sure but I think it's of those symbols that was associated with other midwinter observances prior to Christianity, and got coopted.
