Do you prefer Paula or Petra, and why?
Petra. I get more of an edgy vibe from Petra, which I like. I also like the historical associations.Do you prefer Sybil or Cecile, and why?
Sybil. It seems more interesting than Cecile, which is similar to the popular Cecilia. The prophetess association is kind of fun too.

I prefer Paula, since I don’t like the “Pet” sound in Petra. I prefer Sybil to Cecile because it’s such a pretty, underused name. Sybil deserves a comeback; it’s too nice not to use. The B sound it the middle sounds amazing with the S. I don’t know; I just like it.

Paula has no pronunciation issues, but Petra does. Paula is also the fem version of Paul that I prefer, but IRL I'd use Paul for a boy. I have used Peter for my son, and wouldn't consider Petra at all.Sybil is lovely, and its history is amazing. Cecile in English sounds whiney and miserable; I love Cecily and would use it tomorrow if possible.

Petra. I’ve never liked Paul (look, sound, & vibe. The meaning is the only good thing going for it) and therefore not a fan of Paula either (a particularly unattractive name for a female if you ask me).Sybil (prefer Sibyl, the other looks odd to me). “Prophetess” is a far better meaning than “blind”, and Billie is a pretty cool nickname (better than Cece & Cissy).

Paula and SybilI like the aound of both more. Petra seems rougher and Cecile is just not as fresh as Sybil seems now as it's not common.

Petra - really like Petra. It's somehow slinky and icy but strong and spirited, I'd absolutely use it but everyone I know IRL hates it. I floated it with my mother and she was not a fan, one of my sisters has bad associations with the names... so it's a no-go for me. Shame, because I think it's effortlessly cool. Paula is the opposite, it's very home-body mum-jeans someone's-nice-grandma-who's-not-given-up-dying-her-hair-blonde. I think Paula is friendlier and more approachable, Petra is cooler, more chic, prettier, and more youthful.Sybil / Sibyl has an association with an old sitcom here in the UK, Fawlty Towers, but I think that association is either dying out or soon will be. It's still quite dated and elderly feeling, however the meaning and history of Sibyl is very cool - I don't know if I prefer Sybil or Sibyl, I do find that -byl ending very heavy but writing this now I for some reason find Sibyl with it's literal-word factor a bit fresher?? I don't know. It's somehow both softly demure and heavy sounding, but it's a name I find intriguing and don't dislike, I just change my mind about it a lot - sometimes it appeals, sometimes I find it too dated. Cecile in comparison feels youthful and springy, but in this very specific and dated way, a now moving-out-of-trend kind of youthfulness - I picture a pretty, naive Amelie-esque girl with a cute bob, bright lipstick, infectious smile and stylish sundress, she brings spring/early summer sunshine with her, her colour palette is new-spring-greenery, lemon yellow, the coral of her lipstick, and her soundtrack is some previously popular hit-of-the-moment only it's sung all breathy with acoustic guitar for extra whimsy. It feels youthful in this way which is unyouthful now, like some cynical attempt at youth that's behind the trend, somehow inauthentic. So, dated, heavy, but some cool history to it, vs... youthful, but in a dated, artificial way? And yet for what it's worth, I kinda like both... as middle names only though!

Petra, I suppose, but I really dislike both. Petra is short and gruff, while Paula is broad and sprawling and oily, so I guess Petra's better.Sybil, as Cécile feels unpleasantly prissy - but I'd spell it Sibyl.

Paula has a good association for me, Petra is a cool ancient site but not as good as a personal name. Cecile is quite nice, light and elegant and rather more attractive. Sybil seems a bit more sinister and dark.

Paula, I guess. But I'm not a fan of either. Petra reminds me of the word petroleum.Sybil!! It's more intriguing, mysterious. It reminds me of elves, summer forest and silver bells.

Definitely Petra! It's so much prettier (Sorry grandma xD)Both Cecile and Sybil are solid, but Cecile is a touch more graceful and my style

I prefer Petra over Paula, I like it better since it seems more fresh. It also has some ancient feel to it.I would pick Cecile over Sybil, although Sybil looks decent. Cecile is not one of my favorite names, but it does have an elegant sound. However, I do prefer Cecilia or Cecily.
