No. It's too arbitrary, may as well name a kid Morose or Apogee or any word discovered flipping through a dictionary. If not just Halley then Heloise maybe or Halimah.

Halcyon is one of those ultra-romantic names that I love in theory, like Anemone or Hero on a girl. I love the "kingfisher bird" meaning, and the idea and poetry of "halycon days", the imagery of a bird calming the sea to build its nest, and it fills me with a beautiful calm feeling. (actually the halcyon days are coming up in a little bit, this post has good timing!)

Hmmm it's tough, I think Halcyon Lynette is my fave, it's gently romantic but also down to earth and I definitely like a more classic name next to Halcyon.

I prefer Alcyone “Alcie” for a girl. Halley is a nice nickname.

I have a soft spot for it because of a character name Halcyon in the Rumer Godden novel The Peacock Spring.

Why not just Hayley,don't like halcyon at all.
