I have a cousin who named her daughter Everly. It's not my favorite, but honestly, it's just a name. It blends in with all the other names. It has a bright, hopeful sound to it. It's fiiiine.

The vangard of the surnames as given names thing. Don't like it, find it unattractive, stale, and boring. It is particularly silly with the -leigh suffix, which, let's face it, is never necessay. Granted, Everlee is absolutely no better, but that isn't saying much.

I don't think it sounds bad. I do think Everleigh is a bit better than Everlee, but still don't like the -leigh ending. I think if I was going to use it, I would spell it Everly.

Part of me likes it too. The sound is pretty (I also like Beverly) and I honestly understand that allure of the -eigh ending, it's very soft and romantic. Everly is nice too, but it seems more energetic and almost "sporty" compared to Everleigh, which seems to trail off gently into some magical Brigadoon mist on the magical misty moors, magically. It's very OTT Romantical, which I do appreciate. And the fact that it has such an unromantic meaning is fantastic.

That being said, I would probably pick the Everly spelling, if I were to use it. I am notorious for never ever getting "ei" words or names right and I guarantee I would misspell my own child's name as Everliegh, and live a life continually correcting it.

It’s funny for all the people saying it’s only youthful/trendy; I grew up with an Everleigh. She’s now 18 years old, and she’s the only one I know. She chooses to go by Eve sometimes. Honestly, I prefer the Everly spelling. Though, Everleigh looks very nice aesthetically and -leigh has personal significance to me.

It’s not the worst of the names ending in leigh but I’d never use it. I prefer Everly or better yet Evelyn.

I prefer Leigh to Lee as a female name. Putting Ever in front of either of them is a huge no-no.

The sound of it seems fine, because it sounds like Avery and Evelyn.
But Everly is a disappointingly flimsy substitute for Avery or Evelyn. What more is it than that, really? It's Avery or Evelyn for people who fancy themselves too special for Avery and Evelyn but not quite special enough for Ever (which is ever so slightly worse than Everly imo, because it's not a name, not namey, not even a surname).

I readily read Everleigh as a word like evergreen. Everleigh = always Leigh. It happens effortlessly. It looks like a facetious username that someone named Leigh would use. So I think the name is just bad. It's usable, since it rolls off the tongue! But IMHO, it disappoints in every other way.

Everlee has all the same problems as Everleigh, except it doesn't look as much like the title of a YA fantasy, or the name of another one of those brand-new firetrap apartment-over-retail tenement buildings with cheap siding.

I don't like the ending -eigh on anything, I wish it would disappear completely. Everly is the best option if you have to spell it some way.

Agree on Everleigh though I still like it more than Everlee. Looks lopsided.

Yeah I agree it's not necessarily the worst of the modern names. If I was only allowed to use a modern name it would probably be somewhere on the long list for me. Really long list but still. Everly for me. Feels more straightforward and to the point.
