It's alright, and I like the connection to your mother. Still, I prefer Jackson in this case, although it's really popular.Miranda

Jansen/Janssen is a Dutch SURNAME, but since surnames are so popular, why not? Only, if you want to pronounce it correctly, it's Jahn-sen, not Jenn-sen (Jenn as in Jennifer)

I knew a Jansen whose last name was Dustin, and I always thought he had a last name for a first name and a first name for a last name! A little confusing. I think it's a great name and a good way to honor your grandmother.

My dentist is Dr. JansenJansen is the equivalent of Johnson. That being said I don't care for it. Too surnamey.

do I understand right: Jansen for your son in honor of your mother Jane?If I have that correct, I like it even more because of the neat little connection between the names. Jansen mean Johnson, son of JOhn, Jane comes from John, so it works!

I like the name. I know a lady who has a son named this. He has a sister Autumn and a brother Tarik, however sadly Tarik had just past away last month.

On a boy, I think it'd make a good middle name. On a girl, I think you'd be better set to simply use one of Jane's many, many variations or derivatives. Here are 133 different variations on Jane. Maybe you'd like one of those? http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=jane&extra=r&gender=fArray
