[Opinions] Seanna
Would you pronounce Seanna more like Shauna, or more like Sienna? And where do you live?I ran this poll https://www.behindthename.com/polls/382883 and I'm surprised it's as close as it is. I had thought there was only one pronunciation.- mirfak

South Carolina; I’d say it as “See-ANN-uh”. It reminds me of a girl I used to know called Ceanna (pronounced the same).

I would pronounce it like Shauna (from Australia). I would presume it was a feminine version of Sean.

Me too, and I'm in South Africa. That said, Sean is no longer fashionable, so perhaps not? But I've never seen Sienna used locally.

Yeah I don’t think Sean is popular here anymore either. Off topic slightly but I went to school with a Sian (different name and prn shahn) and a few Seans with various spellings. So I guess that explains why my first reaction would be Shauna rather than a creative spelling of Sienna. I think the only creative spelling of Sienna I’ve come across began with a C.

I think I'd guess See-anna first. I'm in prairie -region Canada. We don't see too many Seans in my area (just Shawn and Shaun) so I don't think I'd immediately see what was going on there! I've actually never come across this version of Shawna before.

I’m in Canada and the same.

Huh. If I saw that name I would’ve said it like Sienna but with an a instinctively. Like See-ann-ah. Not Shauna. Interesting. I’m a New Yorker.I quite like the sound of Shawna and Shauna, and Seanna is an okay spelling. But ultimately - I would prefer Sienna. But the two aren’t really comparable are they?
