It make me think of Mr Peabody and Sherman.

I either think of a dog (only because in my old neighborhood, someone had a sweet Yellow Lab named Sherman), or Sherman T. Potter from the TV show M*A*S*H.

It's a tank. Surely that should disqualify it?

Very old fashioned indeed. I see it as a surname, but it sounds like a pleasant enough name really. I’m not 100% sure how to feel about it, just a bit pompous and chevalier. The sound is okay, somewhat handsome I’d say.

My thoughts on Sherman are:
Dog.
M4 Sherman Tank.
Gen Sherman's March to the Sea.
Shermie (what we called the Dachshund named Sherman).
I don't think of it as a name for a person. Although of course it's usable as such.

Don't like it at all

This name always makes me think of someone with a speech impediment smooshing German Shepherd together into a single word tbh. Sherman makes me think dog, or sheepdog.
