I was briefly infatuated with that name after seeing the movie. I like it. In the way that I like names like Kylo and Merida - a "guilty pleasure." I think it's cool that someone is named Amidala. I would be fine with being named it. But I probably would not give it to a baby myself. It reminds me a little bit of "amygdala" (the brain structure named for resemblance to an almond), and Emidia (form of Emigdia).
